Create a PDF from any application that can print

The PDF format (Portable Document Format) is a useful format for presenting documents that can be viewed on just about any computer system.  It is essentially a file with ‘compiled’ PostScript language instructions, PostScript being a language invented by Adobe.  But you don’t have to purchase Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF file.I happen to like using CutePDF Writer, a free download.  When you install it, take our time and clear the check boxes that offer to install things like the Yahoo! toolbar and as your default home page.  You will need to install the run-time GhostScript package, the CutePDF Writer installation will download it and install it if you need it.

Operation couldn’t be simpler.  When you print, select the PDF Writer as the output device.  It will ask you for an output file and within seconds you will have a PDF file that you may send to others.
